Initially I did what many parents to be do and created a registry at Babies R Us. I assumed they would have everything I could ever want for baby, and enjoyed poking around the store with my husband. I immediately did some comparison shopping and chose a stroller, whose story I wrote about recently. When I realized that stroller was not going to work for me, and Babies R Us told me to get a new car because none of the infant seats they carried would fit in the back seat of my Mini Cooper I began to rethink my registry with them.
As my list of quirky wants and needs started to pile up I dreamed of a registry where I could register for anything at any store. Soon I realized that it existed at Amazon.com and I became an instant fan.
First of all Amazon.com offers a wide variety of products so many of my wants and needs were satisfied just by browsing the website. As I noticed that most of the prices were cheaper then Babies R Us, and was finding just about everything I needed I became more and more pleased with my discovery.
I used the registry tools to add some products that I had not yet thought of, and my list began to grow. As it grew I started to delete "wants" and make sure the list was comprised more of "needs" I added everything to the list from cotton balls to nursery furniture so it would serve as a shopping list to let me know that I can use to make sure I am prepared for babies arrival.
The best benefit of this registry is that you can add products from any website. It is really easy to do.
Another great feature on the registry is that you can manually mark items as purchased from your list. All you need to do is go to your registry, and look to the right side of each item. Click on "Edit Comments, Quantity & Priority" and mark the quantity you received. I also like to add in a little comment thanking who sent the gift or mentioning that we are all stocked up on an item. When I am out and about and grab something for baby I simply add it to the list and mark it as purchased. I am hoping this feature will help me get only what I need and not end up with gifts that I don't use.
This registry is my registry of choice. If you are just getting started make sure to check out the Most Registered For Baby Top 100 Products to get some ideas. Registering is a fun process, and for me having products from all over the web as options makes it even more exciting!

«Oldest ‹Older 1 – 200 of 220 Newer› Newest»Great tips and advice! Perfect for any mom to be as I know it does get a bit confusing especially for those who are first time moms.
It is VERY confusing! Especially for me when I realized that there wasn't one store with everything I needed thanks to my tiny car.
Thanks for a great blog!!
I love the Amazon registry. The best part of it is you can wish for anything (birthdays, anniversaries, graduation, whatever) and they have so many different products!!
Nice!
Great blog post

Amazon is one place that you can find everything you need especially the hard finds.
I will definitely recommend this to my sister-in-law for her registry. There is always such cool stuff on Amazon that you can't get other places.

Thanks everyone for stopping by! I am still loving and utilizing my Amazon Registry ... slowly checking things off the list. I LOVE the thank you note feature.
PS - People CAN buy items from a store like Babies R Us, and mark them off as purchased on the Amazon Registry. You don't have to buy everything on-line :)
Good post and very helpful.
Thank you for the Giveaway.
I've used the Amazon registry for Christmas gifts before. I love it.
thanks for the give away.
Thank you for the giveaway
I love amazon.com its a great place to shop and get great deals!
I did not realize that Amazon had a baby registry too. That's pretty awesome
Sounds amazing..Makes me wish they had this back when I had my kids:)
Great idea using Amazon! Wish I would've done the same.
I wish I had known about the Amazon registry when I registered at Babies R Us...I'll be sure to recommend that my friends register at Amazon instead!

I didn't know Amazon.com had a registry. I'll have to let my daughter know when she gets ready to start a family. Thanks for this great blog !
I did not realize you could create a registry on Amazon.com. I love Amazon.com and shop there for everything from pet supplies to unique gifts.

Great information! I am so with you on the registry at Babies R Us! I think most new moms took that approach! It's great that you threw this information out here to help new moms avoid the same mistake most of us did!

i love amazon, and did the registry it is so cool i love it, thanks for the tip on this
Thanks for the tip dguillen at kc dot rr dot com
Thank you for all the info.
Yes, I too learned Toys'R'Us/Babies'R'Us are not all what they appear to be in those tele commercials!
Thanks for reminding us about the existence of the Amazon gift registry. I don't have a need as far as the baby registry, but I have used it for other occasions.
Great idea!!
That is such a great idea!I ran into the same problem at Target!
That is a great idea. btw, Emptynester Savings sent me! Thanks!!!
Good tips. I love Amazon. They have just about everything. We had a problem with Babys R Us with my niece. They didn't keep the list updated and she ended up with 3 activity centers. I wouldn't recommend them.
What a nice idea! Thanks!
Thanks everyone for the comments & for stopping by!
Thanks for interesting info-- checking in of this
This is the best! Hands down, the coolest feature is that you can manually mark items as purchased. That way if you find a great deal on something you can go ahead and get it and not worry that someone else will buy it for you as well. I just love Amazon!
This is a very informative blog post. I think that it is neat that she found out that Amazon could help her with all her baby needs! Good information for all parents
I didn't even know something like this existed. No wonder: I don't have kids. XD I like the way you write: your explanations are easy to follow and to the point.
I will soon be a granmuma of twin boys ... really looking forward to this event :>)
I love this site for information - crikey things have sure changed since my boys were my wee babes....
Thanks for the great info!
I know someone who loves baby deals like this. I sure will let her know about it.
Great blog.
I never thought about registering on Amazon, great post!
Frugal Gals sent me. My daughter-in-law is having a baby soon and we are all so excited. Love your site!
Thanks for sharing.

Great tips& advice.

Excellent advice, thanks!
Thanks for the chance to win 700!!
Very useful advice. I have never heard of the universal registry. Toys R Us is way too expensive anyway.
Great article on Baby registries! I am about to shop from one for a family member.
I'm always so appreciative when a pregnant friend actually does a registry. I so want to get them something they want or need, and not just yet another blanket just because I thought it was cute!
I never really used any registry. I didn't even know they were there until after the baby was born!
I never used a registry but I can see the benefits...thank you
loving amazon. thanks for sharing
very informative, NICE blog!! :-)

Thanks everyone for stopping by and leaving a comment!
Thanks for sharing your experience with registering. I have order a lot from Amazon but never thought about baby registering. Thanks for the tip.
couponmaster = Deb Kovac
Awesome I would never have thought of that. I sed Wal Marts and Babys R Us too but was not to happy with them and the prices as a lot of people could not afford there prices.
Great post... thanks for sharing with us!
Thanks Good post.
Thanks for the info!
I don't think that you signed up for baby gear when my kids were born.
Great post. Thank you for the information.
I wish I would've done this when I was pregnant lol. You never think of all this until after the baby is born and it's like two years down the road. Great information!
I LOVE Amazon! It used to be (back in the day) only be for books, and wow how it's grown!I always use my Swagbucks for stuff there.
I love that you can wish for almost anything!
Love Amazon.com! Great stuff for great prices!
awesome
I love the Amazon registry too. I use it to remind myself of things I think I'd like to get the kiddos... and I keep one for myself so my hubby knows what would be nice to buy me. When I registered for my babies, I did it at Babies R Us and Target. BRU is over-priced, and I got peeved at Target b/c the day before my shower the registry system completely crashed... so I ended up getting lots of random stuff I hadn't asked for b/c people said the registry wasn't there. Everyone shops last minute -- glad I'm not the only one! Anyway, Target wouldn't help me out and let me return the items because I didn't have a receipt and I didn't have the items on my registry. ARGH! ok, I'll quit now. hehe

I love Amazon! They have EVERYTHING!!!
Thank you for sharing such a great idea. I wouldn't have thought of Amazon for a registry. I do love Amazon and their add to my wish list feature for things I want to get later, but don't want to loose track of.
love it thanks
That's the one thing I hate about shopping. When I go to a store I know exactly what I want. They usually don't have it. Shop online, then you can find anything you need.
What a great post for new mommies who are blown away by all the decisions that have to be made anyway! Just another star in Amazon's crown! They are awesome! :)
Thanks for the wonderful info, it's much appreciated!
I can't wait to share this with my daughter - she is having a baby in August.
Thank you!
Thanks everyone for stopping by! For those of you without kids the Amazon Wishlist is a great feature. I use it for items I want, but don't need and then treat myself every once in awhile :)
I love Amazon.com too! its amazing how you can add anything from any store to your registry so nice to not have to sign up for registry's everywhere.
I am currently expecting and was planning to go to Babies R Us to start a registry. Now that I know about Amazon.com's registry, I will be doing that. With Babies R Us telling you that all of their infant car seats were too big for you Mini Cooper, I wonder what they would tell me for my little Toyota Yaris. Amazon's registry it is for me!!
Wow! Thats something new to me!
Thanks for the giveaway!
Thanks
Thanks for the info!! Alot of this is new to me!!
That was so rude of babies R us . I never shopped there before however i went in there with someone else and their prices were outrageous. it has been a couple of years since then so i don't know now. Amazon has always gotten my attention because it is a one stop shopping experience and they aren't expensive.
Amazon is just an all around great site to get great deals. I am glad the baby registry is better than BabiesRus is your last choice. To me they are too expensive.
I also use Amazon to keep track of stuff I've bought.
Oh how I wish my niece had known about this! I have started to spread the word though, and I think this is a really great idea. I like that you can go buy something and then amend the registry
Amazon pricing is quite often the best when I comparison shop. I love the idea of doing it from home, too!
I'm a Dad and I sure did experience those listing problems and tying figure out which one is needed and which one is want. Perhaps I should try this registry thing in amazon. Thanks for this post.
@somalyman Try the Maxi Cosi Micro ... it was the smallest infant seat we could find and fits great with the Mini Cooper!
If I was going to have more babies I would defintely use this.
This is a great idea!
Thank you for the insightful views of the Amazon Baby Registry. I may put some thought into using the other available registries Amazon has to offer; such as their Birthday and Christmas Registries! :)
I love amazon but I never would have thought about setting up a registry with them. Thank you for the great idea!
thank you for the tip about Amazon. My daughter is expecting a new baby in April I'll pass this on to her.
thanks for the giveaway!
Thank you for sponsoring the giveaway.
Wow!this is great! I will share this awesome website to my sister in law who has a little baby! :)
I am sooo glad I no longer have to deal with baby stuff! I miss the baby stage but I don't miss the baby gear!
Love Amazon. but don't have babies anymore.

I never thought about doing a baby register with Amazon.
Thank you for the tips. Have a nice day!
I honestly was not impressed with Babies R Us and they are not located near me (nearest is about 1.5 hrs drive away).
Good suggestions because I know that when we registered for our son, they gave us a little price gun scanner thing and it was kinda cool to walk around zapping things. Of course DH added non-baby stuff that HE wanted which I had to delete.
But it is always a great idea to look back on your list and trim it down from the wants to the needs. If you register for 20 blankets you might end up with 20 blankets and you don't need 20 blankets ;)
This is nice, Thank you!
I like Amazon but shipping charges are something else!
adriana(dot)grillo(at)live(dot)ca
Oh I so agree Amazon is Amazing~! I even have signed up for their deal alerts as well. They even send you an alert for anything you want them to.
Rhonda Martin
great site love it
I never realized you could register on Amazon. That's brilliant! And so much better than having to go to the worst store on earth- anything of the R Us variety!!
KK
I have never heard of a registry at Amazon.com but that is a great idea! Much better than having separate registries at multiple stores. :0)
Great blog! I used amazon when I did my registry and I also registered in stores. Great advice.
great blog!
Great information, I'll pass this along to my expecting friends.
Thank you for listing the baby registries and how to do this.
And thank you for the blog post from MammLuvsBooks $700.000PayPal.
I just recently learned Amazon has a registry - love it! Thanks for the giveaway, also!
Amazon.com makes it so easy to create a baby registry. My daughter was registered on Amazon for her baby shower.
i will have to let my couisn and then the neice to get there that way i do not have to worry about sending gifts
I am consistently amazed at what Amazon has to offer. And I love that you can read reviews about most of what they carry!
I love the fact that you can register for any occasion or non-occasion. And also it is accessible world-wide.
Great post. My experience was very similar - I found Babies R Us to be very limiting. I ended up creating registries with multiple companies.

Great Blog!
Thanks everyone for stopping by & the bits of good registry advise! I am trying to keep to "needs" but I do have a want or two for the nursery on there ;)
tyvm for the giveaway. very sweet of you.
I really love Amazon.com baby registry. I made one there and I loved that I could do it from home and that I could pick things from more than one store. Totally agree with you.
Having a gift registry is great! It can keep you from getting double of the same gift. Who wants to exchange things? Not me!
Great tips and advice, I'm going to tell my nephew and his wife who are expecting about the baby registry at Amazon.com. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for the advice!
I love amazon! Great tips!!
I never registered for any of my four babies, and I only had a shower for the second one.
When I was pregnant 32 years ago they didn't have baby registries; this is such a time saver for both the mom-to-be (returning non-needed gifts) and shoppers (not knowing what to buy). You have done a nice job detailing how to register very nicely for those doing it for the first time!!
I love Amazon, but I have yet to use their registry feature. Reading this has made me more interested in trying it out though. :)
Wow things sure have changed since I've had babies. I think there was like 3 car seats to choose from! lol
Angela Michels
Thanks everyone for stopping by. As a side note - I have returned a few things and it was quick and easy!
I love Amazon! So many options to choose from.
Awesome tips! Amazon is awesome!
Great! Thank you
I love Amazon as well. They have great prices for TONS of baby stuff. I attempted to register for Amazon Mom but they aren't accepting new users at this time. Total bummer! Great post, thank you!
ohhhh i never thought of registering for baby gifts on amazon! what a good idea. those little humans need SO much stuff! (dealbunny20@gmail.com)
Awesome! Thank You :-)
Fiona N
I created a wishlist so my family knows what I would like as gifts. I don't have any babies in my near future but there are wants I won't spend money on for myself.
This is one of the many reasons I love Amazon... they just do it all! Thanks for posting.

Good luck everyone with the contest! Just one more day to enter ;)
Thanks for the info.
That is genius to have a button to add items to the registry while you are browsing the web. It kind of reminds me of Pinterest, lol. Thank you so much for sharing, I will keep this in mind when I get pregnant. I wonder if this works for wishlists for a birthday, anniversary, or Christmas??
Wonderful contest thank you for the chance to win
Nice refresher course for both first time mothers and parents with more than one.
There is very little Amazon doesn't have!
Thanks for the opportunity to enter the $700 cash giveaway.
